Blinking heck, it’s been a while since I’ve been here… it’s nice to be back! Been spending too much time messing around elsewhere

I managed to grow a couple of pumpkins this year and the obvious thing for me to do with them was to make soup – especially as Guy Fawkes night was coming up. So here, in its gloriously emancipated vagueness (no two pumpkins are created equal, therefore no quantities) is my pumpkin soup recipe…

I’ve just come back from Normandy and this is a holiday special which we always enjoy. One of those quick and easy self-catering recipes. Find local sausages and beans.

The only essential ingredients are sausages, beans and some kind of tomatoes, make the rest up from there…

signpostWe recently spent some time on the south coast, driving from Brighton to Devon and spending a few days in each.

When in the area, I like to stop at Dart Farms where there is a well stocked farm shop offering great local produce. An old favourite is Somerset Five Year Old Cider Brandy which when teamed up with a new find Somerset Camembert provides a new variation on one of Nigel Slater’s quick and easy snacks…

As we drove around, it was great to see the availability of so much fresh sea-food in those sea-side towns from which it has been conspicuous in its absence for so long. This led us to the rediscovery of an old favourite…
